Eight members of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Partners in Mission group in Boston gathered with the Redemptorist community for Evening Prayer followed by a dinner celebration on Thursday, November 9, 2023. This was our third annual Foundation Day gathering.
At our prayer service, Saint Alphonsus was not only present in spirit, but in body. A first-class relic of our saint is present in the reliquary set on the altar beneath the picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
The Partners in Mission group at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Boston reconvened in late September under the new leadership of Fr. Tom Travers and Fr. Jim Wallace. Partners in Mission began here under the leadership of Fr. Anthony Mihalik, now at San Alfonso Retreat House.
Some of our members were unable to make it that night, and a few others have moved to other locations. At our recent meetings, we have begun discussing Nancy Fearon’s biography of Saint Alphonsus, 'Never Stop Walking, ' and our taking on as a mission bringing communion to those in the hospitals of the area and those confined at home due to illness and aging.
After-dinner entertainment was provided by Angela Chaparro, singer, Luis on guitar, and Tim Macri on flute. Tim and Luis are musicians at our Sunday liturgies. Angela is a professional singer and Luis’s wife. Brava, bravo, bravo. It was a wonderful celebration!
