We began the Lenten Season on Ash Wednesday. Lent is the season for God’s people to deeply discern their relationship with God, with others, and with creation. It is also a time for the faithful to be open to conversions to living the commandment of love more perfectly.
Many bishops encourage the faithful to focus on spiritual renewal. Three spiritual exercises – praying, fasting and almsgiving – are strongly emphasized as ways to improve relationships with God and with others.
Many Redemptorists of the Denver Province have committed themselves to preach parish missions and retreats every week through the end of March. This busy schedule demonstrates that Redemptorists are still widely known for our special call to preach missions.
May the efforts of our confreres preaching missions or leading retreats be successful, and touch the hearts of many people during this Lenten Season.
In this sexennium, we are particularly called to be Missionaries of Hope. May we share a message of hope, especially with those suffering from poverty, war and religious oppression.
