The Redemptorist North American Secretariat for Partnership in Mission is composed of one lay Partner in Mission and one professed Redemptorist from each of the units (provinces and vice- provinces) that make up the Conference, with the Conference Coordinator and the Coordinator of Partnership in Mission serving ex officio. In accord with Decision #11 of the XXV General Chapter, each Conference is expected to establish a Commission for Partnership in Mission.
Outlined in the General Directory for Partnership in Mission (2020), some of the tasks of the Conference Commission for Partnership in Mission are to coordinate and animate Partnership in Mission for the Conference by:
•offering Conference-level opportunities for formation, education and retreat, including regularformation of lay partners on the moral teaching of the Church;
•facilitating the exchange of experiences among Conferences;
•ensuring that each unit has a Commission for Partnership in Mission;
•liaising with PIM Commissions from each unit;
•adapting the General Directory for Partnership in Mission to the specific reality of each Conference;
•providing for an interchange of the events and pro-grams among the units of the Conference, and to provide for greater sharing of people and resources;
•coordinating experiences of mission and missionary immersion;
•making recommendations, as needed, concerning the presence of lay partners in the variousactivities and commissions of the Conference and units;
•in dialogue with the Conference Coordinator and the (v) Provinces, makingrecommendations on the appointment of laity and professed Redemptorists to theCommission; and
•in light of the Conference by-laws, consider and determine the duration of appointment to the Conference Commission for Partnership in Mission.
LUCY BURICH McNAMARA is a Lay Missionary of the Most Holy Redeemer, Baltimore Province. From the former Redemptorist parish of St. Martin of Tours (SMT) in Bethpage, NY, Lucy has been a part of the Redemptorist family for 27 years. Since November 2019, Lucy serves as the Baltimore Province Lay Representative to the North American Secretariat for Partnership in Mission and as the Baltimore Province Lay Co-coordinator of the Provincial Commission for Partnership in Mission. Lucy organized and actively facilitates the Partners in Mission group at SMT, which has been meeting monthly since January 2020.
Professionally, she is a Certified Public Accountant. As an Audit Manager at Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP (PWC), Lucy made the decision to step down and focus on being at home with her children, while managing a seasonal, private tax practice. PWC sponsored her MBA at Columbia University Business School in 1997, where she concentrated in the Management of Human Behavior in Organizations and Finance. Her undergraduate degree, obtained in 1989 from Bernard Baruch College, was in Accounting with a minor in Art. Fluent in Croatian, Lucy is currently studying Spanish. Her three children are Redemptorist Associates.
FRANCIS GARGANI, CSsR was professed in 1965, ordained 1971, first served as a parish priest in Redemptorist parishes of Saratoga Springs, NY and Pittsburgh, PA from 1972-1982. January 1982 Francis attended the Catholic University of America in D.C. to study in the Masters Program of Liturgy, and from 1984-1991 was campus minister @ Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. After serving in Mt. St. Alphonsus Retreat House from 1992 – 2000, Francis did a ministry of social justice while residing in the south Bronx @ the Redemptorist parish of Immaculate Conception, 2000 – 2009. He then became the superior/coordinator of the Provincial Community of Brooklyn until 2019, when he helped navigate the move of the Baltimore Provincial House to Washington, DC, where he now resides, serving as a minister of evangelization giving retreats and parish missions, facilitating the North American Conference on Racial Equity and serves on the Commission of the North American Conference for Partnership in Mission.
MARIO DOYLE, CSsR is originally from the Magdalen Islands, an archipelago in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. He made his profession among the Redemptorists in 1978. After a missionary stay in Haiti and an internship in youth and vocation ministry, he was ordained a priest in 1983. From 1987, he was chaplain of general Catholic action for the diocese of Quebec while pursuing doctoral studies in theology. 1993-1999: member of the provincial council of the Redemptorists of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and director of the séminaire Saint-Alphonse (a secondary school for boys and girls). From 1999-2002 he was Director of Youth Ministry and retreat preacher. From 2002-2009 he served as moderator and priest of the parishes of Grande-Entrée, Pointe-aux-Loups, Havre-aux-Maisons and Fatima in the diocese of Gaspé. 2009-2011. He was a Retreat preacher from 2011-2019, and then Moderator and priest of the Parish of Saint-Louis-des-Français of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola of Saint-Ignace, Saint-Joseph of Pointe-Sapin, Sainte-Anne de Baie Sainte-Anne, in the diocese of Moncton, and member of the National Secretariat of the Saint-André School of Evangelization. From 2019-2023 he served as a member of the provincial council and Superior of the Redemptorist community at the Sainte-Anne-Beaupré Sanctuary. And since 2009, he has been involved in the North American Secretariat for Partnership in Mission.
TONI DUNNING was introduced to the Redemptorist Congregation in 2004 when she became a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in Chicago, IL and began working at the parish Director of Religious Education. When a position at St. Michael’s Parish Office opened up, she applied and accepted the position. She worked there until 2020 in various positions, the last being Office Manager, when she retired and she and her husband moved to Indiana. She remains involved at St. Michael’s, scheduling weddings and ensuring that couples are completing the necessary paperwork for their wedding. Becoming a Redemptorist Associate in 2019, meeting monthly with the Chicago Circle. Toni became more involved in the Congregation.
She became a leader of the workshop series hosted by Fr. Greg May, C.Ss.R., and then began facilitating the Discernment Circle sessions for individuals who wished to continue to learn about the Redemptorists and their spirituality. Toni became a member of NASPIM as a lay representative for the Denver Province in the Fall of 2023. Toni was educated at Western Illinois University where she earned a BS in Law Enforcement and Computer Science. She was employed as a Computer Programmer for many years. As her husband’s job took them to several locations in the Midwest, Toni chose to stay home to raise her three children. Only when moving to Chicago did she return to the work force.
MARTIN GARCIA CORTES was born on January 2, 1966 in the city of Irapuato in the state of Guanajuato. He studied industrial engineering in chemistry. He is married to Maria Esther Parra, and they have two sons.
As a lay person. Martin as been involved in the Santa Anita church run by the Redemptorist missionaries since 1983. At present, he participates as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, as part of the itinerant mission team in the province of Mexico, and I is the coordinator of the provincial council of the laity in Mexico.
MARGIE JANSON is a Lay Missionary of the Most Holy Redeemer.
At the Redemptorist Parish of St. Teresa’s, St. John’s, NL, Margie is currently the Coordinator of Pastoral Care, the Safe Environment Coordinator, and the Coordinator of the Redemptorist Associate Group. Margie was born and raised in St. John’s, NL. She and her husband, Joe, are parents to three adult children. Margie is retired from a thirty-year career with the NL Department of Justice and Public Safety. She holds a B.Th. from Queen’s College. Margie serves on the North American Conference Secretariat for Partnership in Mission, the Province of Canada Commission for Partnership in Mission, and the Apostolic Life Secretariat. Margie is also a Director and the Secretary of the St. Teresa's Mundy Pond Corporation.
PATRICK KEYES, CSsR professed first vows on July 21 1985; and was ordained on June 3rd 1989. He holds an MA in Moral Theology from Chicago Theological Union (1996); and a DMin in Pastoral Counseling Fordham (2014). He has experienced 35 years of Redemptorist ministry, with many of those years spent in Latino parishes in the US, and in overseas ministry in the Amazon jungle in Brazil. He has served as Director of Postulants for the Baltimore; Denver and Canadian provinces. He is currently ministering in Mexico City in parish and LGBTQ ministry.
GREG MAY, CSsR was raised in a German Catholic farming community 30 miles west of Wichita, Kansas. His family settled there in 1878 and were the first sod busters to farm the land. His contact with the Redemptorist was at Villa Christi Retreat House in Wichita making annual retreats during his high school years. He graduated from Holy Redeemer College and Catholic Theological Union. Professed in 1983 and ordained in 1988. His first 23 years of ministry was in Spanish Speaking parishes. He is presently co-director of the pre-novitiate program in the Bronx, New York. He has over 30 years of experience working with leadership training for the laity and involvement with Partners in Mission. He is coordinator of PIM in the Denver Province and member of Conference Secretariat.
KRISTINE PHAM immigrated with her family to the United States in 1975. After obtaining her Juris Doctorate and Latin Law Masters, she had a conversion and left her profession. She began attending daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration and now works as the Director of Vietnamese Faith Formation. She serves on the Orange Diocesan Liturgical Commission, Eucharistic Committee and is the Pastoral Council Chairwoman at St. Bonaventure Church in Huntington Beach, CA. Kristine helps further the Redemptorists Evangelization Mission by working on Radio Me Hang Cuu Giup’s daily programs. She and her husband will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year.
FR. MICHAEL JOSEPH NGUYEN TRUONG LUAN, C.Ss.R is a missionary religious belonging to the Extra-Patriam Redemptorist Vice-Province. He has been a Redemptorist for 37 years and a missionary priest for over 25 years. He holds Master degrees in Divine Theology and in Art; and also he studied at Pontificia Studiorum Univeritas a Sancto Thoma Aquinate in Urbe or the Angelicum and received a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology. He is fluent in Vietnamese, French, English and Italian; with the reading comprehension of Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Spanish, and Sino-Vietnamese or Chinese. He serves as a parish mission preacher, pastor, retreat master, director of communication, pilgrimage director and musician. Recently he has been elected to be the Vocal for the Extra-Patriam Redemptorists.
