Early last month, a new province – the Province of Curitiba – was formed in Brazil. Confreres of the Vice Province of Manaus traveled to the southern portion of Brazil to join members of the Province of Campo Grande and the Province of Porto Alegre for an Assembly held in the City of Curitiba, in the State of Paraná.
More than 140 confreres – 40 of the Vice Province of Manaus (green shirts), 64 of the Province of Campo Grande (black shirts) and 40 of the Province of Porto Alegre (blue shirts) – participated. The meeting was part of the long process of reconfiguration set in motion at the last General Chapter.
The new map of the reconfigured Units was determined by the Conference of Latin America and Caribe Assembly in 2019. Participants voted to elect a new Provincial Superior and his Council at the end of 2023, with the new leadership team’s term slated to start at the beginning of 2024.
