The Redemptorist Province of Canada was formed and 2019. The Province is composed of the regions of Toronto-Edmonton, Saint Anne de Beaupre, and Yorkton.
The chapter met from January 16-20, 2022, at Queen of Apostles Retreat Center, Mississauga, ON. The first item of business was to read the letter from the general government affirming, the election of Fr. Michael Smolinski, CSsR’ as a provincial. Fr. Jacques Fortin, CSsR was then elected provincial vicar.
The Ordinary Provincial Council of the province is composed of Fr. Jacques Fortin, CSsR, Fr. Santo Arrigo, CSsR, and Fr. Larry Kondra, CSsR. The Extraordinary Provincial Council includes Fr. Tony Bidgood, CSsR, Fr. John Sianchuk, CSsR and Fr. Mario Doyle, CSsR.
We congratulate them all on their election, thank them for their willingness, to serve in these roles of leader ship, and assure them of our support in the coming quadrennium.
The Province of Canada covers a vast geography, and 6 time zones. We are diverse in language, and culture and Churches (Latin and Byzantine). It is not often that the members of our Redemptorist Family can gather face-to-face, and so there is a spirit of hope and joy, when we do gather. We are grateful for this opportunity to be together and to have this moment of common reflection and planning for our Province as we look ahead.
