Two Redemptoristines from the monastery in Cebu, Philippines, are visiting with the Redemptoristines in Korat, Thailand this week. They especially enjoyed catching up with beloved Sr. Joan Calver, who is celebrating her 70th jubilee of profession this year.
Born in Maynooth, Ontario, Canada, Sr. Joan professed vows as a Redemptoristine nun in 1953. She left the Redemptoristine monastery in Barbie, Ontario, to found the monastery in Liguori in 1960.
She has served her community as a formator, prioress, organist, bursar and seamstress. She was missioned to a new foundation in Legaspi, Philippines, for a number of years, and has served as one of the English-speaking representatives on the International Service Board of the Redemptoristines.
