The Latin title of this article means “Celebrations.” We all love to celebrate milestones in life. Today, we may celebrate graduations from Kindergarten all the way through University. We Redemptorists are no different. Each year we celebrate the anniversaries of ordination and vows. They are important events in our lives.
Last week, we remembered the ordination anniversaries of 11 men: Albert Castellino, Richard Schiblin, Peter Voelker and Lyle Konen (60 years); Gary Lauenstein, Patrick Grile and Thomas Picton (50 years); John Cody, Andrew Thompson and James White (40 years); and John Fahey Guerra (25 years). For all of us, these are times to look at old photos and share memories that will never be forgotten.
Provincial Superior Stephen Rehrauer served as the main celebrant and homilist for the celebration at St. Clement’s in Liguori. Confreres and their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and dinner, plus a huge cake to commemorate the jubilee celebration. Like the cake, the years served were huge – a total of 535! How many Masses were offered? How many homilies were preached? How many thousands of people were helped by these 11 men, who hail from India to Idaho and from San Antonio to Chicago?
We end as we began: AD MULTOS ANNOS. Congratulations to these valiant men for their years of service to the Redemptorists and to the Church. Thank you!
