Phase III of the General Chapter meeting is underway at San Alfonso
Retreat House in Long Branch, NJ, and will continue until the 28th of this month. Participants of this assembly include members of the North America Conference who are members of the Ordinary and Vice Provincial Councils and Vocals of the Baltimore Province, Denver Province, Province of Mexico, Province of Canada and the Extra-Patriam Vice Province, as well as delegated Partners in Mission (PIM).
Everyone arrived last Sunday, and immediately felt a familiar sense of bonding with confreres at the international level thanks to the special presence of Superior General Rogério Gomes and our own Br. Larry Luján, General Consultor.
The theme, “Missionaries of Hope in the Footsteps of the Holy Redeemer,” was emphasized strongly by Father General during his presentations at the beginning of the week. One of the purposes of the meeting is to discuss how to implement the strategic plan so each Unit can effectuate in this quadrennium.
The challenges that we face currently include:
Δ a call to leave our comfort zones for the sake of the mission.
Δ working together by trusting in the work of the Holy Spirit and having faith in one another.
Δ working together in the field of multiculturalism with the Gospel as a foundation.
In the next few days, the members of the Conference Assembly will discuss the five important pillars of Redemptorist missionary life: Redemptorist Identity, Redemptorist Mission, Redemptorist Consecrated Life, Redemptorist Formation for Mission, and Leadership for Redemptorist Mission.
Please keep all of us in your prayers, and pray for the success of this meeting.
