Following Phase One of the 26th General Chapter, the North American Conference Assembly met May 19-20 at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, New Jersey.
The primary focus of the Assembly was centered on Formation/Vocations and Common Missionary Projects between Units in North America.
The Assembly addressed meeting Formation needs now, noting that needs in various levels of Formation have already been addressed, or are currently in motion. Emphasis was placed on proper training for all Formation directors.
On Friday, May 20, discussion centered around establishment of Common Missionary Projects. The Assembly is very intent on establishing at least one Common Ministry Project for all Units to be involved in. Discussion centered around possible missionary projects, as well as the involvement of Brothers and lay Partners in Mission.
At the end of the Assembly, participants expressed great hope in accomplishing the formation/missionary projects according to a timetable that was adopted.
The gathering ended with a Mass led by members of the Province of Canada. Fr. Mark Miller, C.Ss.R. was celebrant and Provincial Superior Fr. Charles Duval, C.Ss.R. was homilist.
