Like many confreres of the Denver Province, members of the EPC joined the worldwide webinar in the wee hours of the morning to celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life.
With the help of a little coffee, we cheered on Br. Larry Luján as he addressed the worldwide Congregation. Superior General Rogério Gomes offered some profound insights into our call and charism as Redemptorists, and I pray that all confreres have had a chance to read and reflect upon his words.
Immersed in a busy EPC meeting, his words made clear why we as an EPC were gathered: “We are called to be a sign of unity, and to proclaim redemption with courage and enthusiasm. Our charism is alive and strengthens us in the mission and, for this reason, we are called to be a light for the nations.”
During the final moments of our time together online, we watched a video of perhaps a hundred or so images of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Our Mother was at the center of festivities and liturgies, her image was on high cathedral walls and in humble abodes.
Fr. Steve Benden mentioned how energizing and unifying those images were – for him, and for every Redemptorist around the world. They reminded each of us of our own yes to God and of our call to spread the Good News of Redemption.
